This was his best friend in Preschool, Wyatt
Emery grew a lot physically, and academically this year in preschool! He would go to preschool 2 times a week for 4 hours at a time, go to art, music, spanish and p.e. He had so many friends, loved the teachers and the field trips. Unfortunately, half way through the year at the parent teacher conference, I discovered that he was not being taught how to read, write and math as much as I thought he should be learning, and that the teachers were not recommending that the whole entire preschool class not advance on to kindergarten!
The school teacher in me stepped in and thought I need to do something about this! To not have the whole entire class move on to kindergarten is very unusual and I knew that Emery would be ready to move on to kindergarten with my help. So...in February, I put my teacher hat back on and dedicated an hour of my time every single day to help him write, identify letters and sounds, blending sounds, writing letters and numbers, and how to count to 100. After 6 months of doing this daily, I am happy to say that Emery is very ready for kindergarten! I think it is very important for the parent to be an active part of the child's education, but in this case, I was the only part of the education since the teachers were not all that serious about preparing the children to go on to kindergarten.
After this experience, I have gotten the itch even more to go back and teach school! Right now, in my season of life, it is not the right time. My "job" is to be home with my kids and to teach them the things that they need to learn. I feel very fortunate that I can be a full time stay at home mom because it is a full time job! One of these days, I will go back and teach school!
Last Day of Preschool!
Elle loved 2nd grade so much this year! She really excelled in reading and math!
Sunny & Elle played their violins in the annual School Talent Show! Sunny played the Vivialdi Concerto and Elle played Hunters Chorus!
Even though Sunny was in 4th grade, we had her play in the 5th grade orchestra so she could get more sight reading skills and more of a challenge! She was so proud to play at the 5th grade orchestra concert!
Sunny woke up early every Thursday morning for Choir practice and LOVED singing in this school choir!
The concert Master of the 6th Grade Orchestra!
I was so proud of Riley this year. He started his first year of middle school, played in 3 different orchestras and got straight A's! He was in the 6th grade orchestra, the High School symphony and the middle school chamber orchestra!
For Sunny's 4th grade Ohio project, she chose to research Hocking hills! She did this project on her own and learned so much! I was so proud of her for pulling it off! At the ohio fair, people would approach the students and ask them about their project. Sunny dressed up as a hiker and told everyone about what to expect at hocking hills!
She even brought her American Girl Doll as a camper!
These girls had a wonderful year! Sunny worked hard in 4th grade and Elle worked hard in 2nd grade!
I was SOOOO nervous for Rilye to start middle school, but he proved that I had nothing to worry about! He rocked 6th grade, made a lot of friends, was a fun, social kid, avoided the middle school drama, got Straight A's, and woke up every morning early to go to high school!
Riley was on the Honor Roll every quarter of Middle school for a 4.0 gpa!
Elle and her BFF, Alyssa!
Elle made some cute friends in 2nd grade!
Sunny and her BFF, Siena!
Sunny and Mrs. Kamer
Elle and Mrs. Defenbaugh!
