Washington DC

We went to Washington DC for New Years with Regan's sisters family. It was so awesome! The first day, we took a trolley tour of the whole city. It was so cool to listen to the driver tell us everything about each site-I actually learned so much just by being on the trolleys.

Our first stop was the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
An older gentleman was at the wall of names of people who died in world war 2 and told Riley how his best friend died in the war and how it has affected him all these years. Very humbling.
                                           Abraham Lincoln
                                 Arlington Cemetary
There is a guard guarding the unknown soldiers grave at all times...
It was so cool to see the guard...

General Robert E Lee's house is on the cemetary grounds.

The 3rd largest cathedral is right in Washington DC
 The White House
The Capitol

I kind of felt like I was in Rome because there are huge buildings like this all over the city.
Look who we bumped into while in Washington DC!! Just kidding, but we did see Michelle Obama's ball gown and jewelry!
The best museum we went to was the Holocaust museum. They had an exhibit for children centered around a boy named Daniel and his diary entries. It was done so well and on the kids level so they could understand it.
The kids loved reading all of the diary entriesl
The kids wrote letters to Daniel afterwards how they never want what happened to the Jews to ever happen again,

We had an awesome trip with the Pope family! The only bad thing was that I got super sick on the subway. Man, after having 4 kids, I have some major motion sickness issues.
