The Dunn Family

My cousin David and his family live in New York and they traveled all the way to Ohio to have Thanksgiving with us! David is the oldest Grandchild in the Anderson family and he is a Professor at a college in New York! He brought the text book he teaches Animal Physiology out of and was showing Emery some of the animal facts out of it. Emery was SO into the information David was giving to him...I expect him to be a very intelligent child!
We  played a good old game of Blockus, went to Catching Fire and watched Football ALL DAY on Saturday! It was so awesome to hear everyone watching the Alabama vs Auburn Football Game scream as loud as they could when their team, Auburn WON! It was also an awesome day for BYU as we won our Football and Basketball game!
UNO was a hit with the kids! Ashley was pretty upset when she kept losing to the little kids...obviously!
The kids started an UNO all by themselves-they don't need any more explanation!
My cousin Sammy who is getting his PhD at Perdu came from Indiana to Ohio for Thanksgiving! We put him in charge of bringing the relish tray and he went above and beyond any expectation I might have had! He put the traditional celery sticks with cheese and olives then added pickles, summer sausage, cheese and crackers! He even brought his own platter! I was SO impressed!!! We decided to keep the relish tray out to nibble on while we cooked Thanksgiving dinner and that was the best decision! Who wants to fit Celery and olives on your plate when you don't even have room? We all enjoyed the relish tray so much more before the actual Thanksgiving dinner! Way to go Sammy!
I loved talking to Sammy about all of his Perdu adventures. Did I mention he teaches an English class AT Perdu? I have some pretty smart and amazing cousins! Ladies...he is Single!!!
While we were preparing Thanksgiving Dinner, I had the little kids do a Fall craft...when it comes to glitter and glue, the kids are bound to have fun!
Regan cooked the turkey to perfection and David helped him carve it. Lets just say I was super grateful because I am not the kind of person who can stick their hand inside a raw bird to get a bag of guts out...The Turkey was awesome! Way to go Regan!
Here are the 3 cooks...Jill, me and Ashley! Jill made an amazing coconut cream pie {my favorite item this year for sure}, delicious homemade rolls, creamy potatoes and gravy and her son Seth made awesome cranberry sauce.
Ashley made Green bean casserole, fruit cocktail, pecan pie, and yams! SO impressed!
I made cauliflower casserole, Dixi Salad {pomegranates, apples, pecans and Cream}, and stuffing.
We had every traditional item the Anderson Family has for Thanksgiving and we had a TON of leftovers!
I had so much fun cooking with these ladies, talking to them all weekend and having a little girls shopping trip to World Market and Hobby Lobby!
Cousin Sammy and Cousin David are preparing the stuffed celery-it is actually delicious!
The kids were so enthralled by David's animal physiology text book...I couldn't resist taking a picture of this impromptu science lesson.  David also made some amazing southern style waffles and gumbo! Who knew a professor could also be a chef?
We had so much fun with the Dunn family!!!
